What's the difference between permanent jewellery and a Jewellery Making Workshop?
Permanent jewellery is quick, you pick a chain and get welded on in minutes. Jewellery Making Workshops are a full hands on session where you make your own piece from scratch, plus drinks and charcuterie while you go.
Can we do both in one session?
Yes, plenty of groups mix it in for a full afternoon. Let us know when you enquire and we'll build a timeline that works for your group.
Is there a minimum group size?
We require a minimum of 10 for any private events. Get in touch with your group size and we'll let you know what works.
Can you run this during business hours on a weekday?
Yes, we're available any day of the week, weekends and weekdays both. Just get the date to us ahead of time so we can make it work.
What services are offered at Hey Tilly?
Our Darby Street boutique is home to everything Hey Tilly. Come in for a permanent jewellery appointment, browse and try on the full collection, get a piece engraved, or ask us about our jewellery making workshops. Our team is always happy to help with styling advice and finding pieces that actually mean something to you.
Is the full Hey Tilly range available instore?
Yes, our Darby Street boutique carries the full Hey Tilly range. From our everyday staples to our newest drops, you can see, touch and try on everything in person, with our team on hand for styling advice.
Is there nearby parking?
Yes. There's timed street parking right along Darby Street and on the surrounding side streets, plus a paid car park behind the art gallery if you'd rather lock in a spot.
Is the store wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our Darby Street boutique is wheelchair and pram friendly. There's a black rubber mat at the entrance and the store is wide enough to browse comfortably. Our permanent jewellery stations also have plenty of room to sit at in a wheelchair or with a pram.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Walk-ins are always welcome if you just want to browse or shop the collection. For permanent jewellery we'd recommend booking an appointment so we can make sure a jeweller's ready for you. Spots for our jewellery making workshops are limited , so bookings are essential.

How to get to our Hey Tilly Darby St Store
On foot
If you're already wandering Cooks Hill you're basically there. Darby Street runs straight through the village so once you're on it you can't miss us. Coming from King Edward Park or Newcastle Beach it's a short walk up the hill past the cafes and boutiques until our little shopfront comes into view.
By car
Driving in is easy too. Darby Street has timed street parking right out front and along the side streets so grab a spot close by and pop in. We're easy to spot amongst the rest of the strip.
By public transport
Getting here without a car is simple. Hop off at the Civic Theatre or Crown Street light rail stop and it's a short walk up Darby Street. Newcastle Transport buses also run through the area, route 14 is the main regular bus service running through Darby St.

Our Permanent Jewellery experience is designed so you'll leave wearing something you'll never want to take off. Our jewellers weld each chain to fit right there at the table, in 14k gold filled or sterling silver, with no clasp and nothing to lose. It's quick, it barely feels like anything and it's the kind of little moment worth marking, solo or with the people you love.
